Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy

I work with passionate professionals, leaders, and entrepreneurs looking to heal from trauma and realize their full potential. I’m trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Level 3 and offer online individual sessions to clients from all over the world. Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy honors the multitudes you contain. It moves away from the outdated monolithic view of the mind and embraces our natural multiplicity as divine beings having a human experience. It’s a cutting-edge, evidence-based, psycho-spiritual therapy approach developed by Dr. Richard C. Schwartz.

IFS therapy invites you to find your Self, brave your inner wilderness, and befriend the vulnerable parts of you lurking in the shadows. By healing these vulnerable parts in a safe, non-overwhelming way, you gain access to hidden treasures buried deep within your wounds. You create a home inside yourself from which you can experience more joy, love, peace, and vitality. IFS therapy helps you reparent your inner child with self-compassion so you can be free from your past and live in the moment. It’s an experiential, constraint-releasing model helping you let go of what weighs you down so the natural, effortless flow of Being can be restored within you. You can be at ease in yourself, your relationships, and the world at large. You can navigate your life knowing you are expressing your full potential.

IFS Coaching for High Performers

I coach passionate professionals, entrepreneurs, leaders, and artists seeking to infuse their day-to-day with wholehearted living. “Wholehearted Living is about engaging in our lives from a place of worthiness. It means cultivating the Courage, Compassion, and Connection to wake up in the morning and think, no matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough,” explains researcher and storyteller Brene Brown. If therapy is about discovering who you are and creating a loving relationship with your Self, coaching is about embracing the possibility of who you could be if you put your gifts into loving action. You may be fueled by a profound drive to be the best version of yourself and make the most positive impact you can without having to sacrifice your wellbeing, peace of mind, and vitality in the process. You may long to experience increased joy, aliveness, and purpose without the stress, overwhelm, and burnout.

I invite coaching clients to go on a journey of actualizing their visions and making their potential manifest in the external world while remaining connected to their authentic selves and innate resilience. Coaching can help you let go of self-limiting blocks, embrace the elixirs along your hero’s journey, and serve the greater good (however you define it). When you work, love, and lead with wholeheartedness, the obstacle becomes the way and joy of living becomes a reality.

Recover from Complex Trauma (CPTSD)

I specialize in treating high-performing, high-achieving adult survivors of complex trauma and complex PTSD. Complex trauma is a consequence of chronic, deep, interpersonal wounding most often resulting from overt and/or covert violations in early attachment relationships. Complex trauma is traditionally viewed as a life sentence or a tragedy that impairs functioning in the survivor’s personal, social, and work lives. However, this is not always the case. In fact, complex trauma can lead to hyper-functioning as well as great achievements and contributions worthy of awe and admiration. These survivors can be passionate professionals, leaders, entrepreneurs, and creatives.

I work with individuals who live with this paradox—they thrive outwardly in many ways yet struggle to survive in the psycho-spiritual dimension of their life. These individuals are like the walking wounded. They carry primal wounds that are invisible to those around them and even to themselves. They are masters of their hyper-functioning, orderly, busy, external lives and slaves to their chaotic, unknown, mystical yet mystifying internal lives.

My clients belong to this “Walking Wounded Tribe.” You know you belong to the Walking Wounded Tribe if you have ticked off many boxes on your life check list yet still deal with overwhelm and feelings of being stuck, lost, empty, numb, and unfulfilled. Your trauma has propelled you upward on an ascent of success and achievement in the visible world. All the while you suffer an invisible spiraling descent into the Shadow Underworld. The Walked Wounded need a customized healing process that honors their outward journey of success and their inward journey toward deep healing and transformation. Their unique needs are often overlooked by traditional psychotherapy and even trauma therapies due to their high achieving tendencies.

I offer integrative trauma therapy that includes Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Jungian Psychology for those high functioning adult survivors of complex trauma and CPTSD looking to heal and find their aliveness.

When Trauma Is Stored In The Body

I work with highly intellectual, analytically-minded individuals who feel disconnected from their selves and their bodies as a result of complex trauma. You live from the neck up and forget you have a body much of the time. You intellectualize and analyze everything, dissociate or “numb out” quite easily, and you stay busy and productive. You struggle with being present, still, and at peace. You have a hard time stopping, resting, and listening to your body and inner world. The body does keep the score and often times it is the one who says “no” first. This is especially true when we are unable to set boundaries and show up for our own vulnerability and the wounded parts of our selves yearning to be seen, heard, known, and loved.

Your body can say “no” through various psychosomatic symptoms, autoimmune disorders, gastrointestinal issues, skin problems, brain fog, chronic fatigue, etc. The body becomes a battleground on which the dramas of our unresolved traumas play out. Fortunately, you can heal and your body can become a sacred home to return to. You can release the trauma from your body and discover how to be present, still, and at peace. You can be in profound connection to yourself and others through your body while experiencing your joy and aliveness.

I have trained in various body-oriented trauma therapies including Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Somatic Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I am also a certified Yoga teacher and believe the body is a sacred, living, breathing organism that we can honor and learn from as divine beings having a human, biological experience.

  5. WHAT KIND OF CLIENTS DO YOU TYPICALLY WORK WITH?

I work with clients who are passionate professionals, leaders, and entrepreneurs committed to getting to the root cause of their suffering and creating deep, rich, and meaningful lives. My clients are high achievers who wake up each morning, put on their brave face, and chase joy and fulfillment on the outside. They have on the outside a life worthy of respect and admiration but on the inside an inner life that is depleted, dissociated, and disconnected from their joy and aliveness. They’ve ticked off many of the boxes of their “life checklist” only to discover they feel more empty, lost, and alone than ever. Secretly they’re knee-deep in the trenches fighting ongoing battles with their own minds and bodies. I call this the Walking Wounded Tribe (WWT).

You know you’re a member if being in your mind and body is like living in a war zone. You wish for more than anything to be at peace yet you also yearn to feel alive. Not just the adrenaline rush of the fight to survive or achieve or the high of the “hedonistic treadmill”—but true vitality. You are a natural chameleon adapting to any situation or relationship. You know how to put on a brave face but it’s exhausting and leaves you feeling like an imposter. You wonder what it would be like to be fully present and authentic in your relationships knowing you are enough—you belong just as you are. You live in a perpetual state of internal conflict and misalignment. You desperately need your insides to match your outsides. You are highly intellectual, having a strong analytical mind, and live from the neck up, disconnected from your body.

  6. WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN A THERAPY SESSION?

A therapy session lasts for 50 minutes. We meet at a regular day and time on a weekly basis. I customize my approach to meet you where you’re at on your journey, your season of life, and your personality style depending on your aims. Sessions can have some talk therapy elements but largely include going inside, doing meditative exercises, embodied somatic work, movement, visualization exercises, role plays, or creative, on-the-spot interventions we come up with together. I view you as an expert on your own experience and my goal is to facilitate a nurturing, self-compassionate relationship between you and the wounded parts of you carrying self-limiting beliefs.
