I believe that the quality of our relationships with our bodies and minds determines the quality of our lives. I’m dedicated to helping you let go of stress and tension by reclaiming the aliveness of your inner experience. So many of us have difficulty being present with ourselves because being present means having to tolerate overwhelming racing thoughts and intense physical and emotional reactions. This is especially true when we are experiencing trauma.
We have become cut off and disconnected from our truest nature, that is, the nature of befriending our own Selves. When this disconnection happens, we stop feeling safe in our own skin and gradually lose a sense of agency over our thoughts, feelings, and sensations. It’s too uncomfortable or even too dangerous to “go there.”
“There” is our inner reality, and it’s a significant place to be. It’s the place where our nature can nurture us. It is where a sense of self, identity, and purpose lives. It is the fertile ground, or secure base, from which we build roots and branches connecting us to our passions, relationships, and the dynamic outer world as a whole.
When we are out of touch with this part of our selves, we may struggle with the following:
a numbing or overwhelming experience of emotions
isolation and withdrawal from important relationships
a sense of not belonging
feelings of emptiness and detachment
I offer my clients a way back to “there”—to inhabiting the body, to trusting their inner reality, to reclaiming a lost sense of control and agency over their lives, and to rediscovering intimacy and aliveness within their relationships.
I apply a trauma-informed integrative approach that combines Mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy. Most importantly, I customize my approach to meet the needs, strengths, and personality of each client. You can learn more about what my clients are saying here.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from New York University and a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Psychotherapy from DEREE, the American College of Greece. I was born and raised in New York City and have returned to my family roots in Athens, Greece. I hold a private practice located in central Athens, where I conduct sessions in both English and Greek, serving the vibrantly diverse expat community as well as Greek speakers. I also provide online counseling via secure, encrypted video call.
